My back did not arch for your belly today

One Saturday morning

I woke up

and my body no longer ached for your hands,

my back did not arch for your belly.

I cleaned the shit and piss on the balcony floor,

I wiped my snot and tears and

the only thing waiting for me was pain

and the only thing i knew better than you, was to hurt.

And I can’t wait for it to be over,

to save this love you would have had to have been here,

and you left a long time ago.

The saddest thing is

men,

how they destroy everything beautiful in this world,

how they couldn’t even begin to understand how to fix the damage they caused,

how they destroy themselves and each other.

Only in the brink of death,

or facing the inevitable doom of being forgotten & alone,

only then they begin to feel their cracked skin,

their knotted hair & bent elbows.

Nothing else is as broken, as begging to be bought,

nothing quite as sad & known & forgotten

as a man.
